“Active Park,” Shalom Neighbourhood, Nazareth Illit

View of “Active Park”

In June 2007, a new “Active Park” was opened in the Shalom neighbourhood in Nazareth Illit.  The 3.5 dunam park, the only playground in the neighbourhood, was built on a large waste area in the centre of the neighbourhood.  It contains play and sports areas (including a football and basketball court), grass, drinking fountains and shaded seating corners – particularly good for parents and the elderly.

As the homes in this neighbourhood do not have gardens, and few even have balconies, the park offers a safe recreation and play facility, and a meeting place for all of the area’s residents.

The park was constructed through Project Renewal, which had been upgrading the entire neighbourhood, with the help of a donation from the Foundation.
